Uniform

APPEARANCE

Pupils are expected to come to school clean and tidy and to follow the School Uniform rules listed below.

BOYS

Black blazer
Black trousers – not jeans
Plain White shirt – with buttons at the top to be worn with the school tie.
School tie – refer to notes below.
Black pullover, plain – V neck (not mixed colours).
Black, grey or white socks
Plain black formal shoes (Trainer style / canvas leisure shoes are not allowed)

GIRLS

Black blazer.
Black skirt – regular length (not short).
Black trousers – not tight fitting – not jeans or leggings
Plain White shirt that buttons up to the top, not open necked, must be plain
School tie – refer to notes below
Black cardigan or pullover – V neck (not mixed colours or fashion styles)
Black, grey or white socks
Plain grey or black tights
Plain black formal shoes (Trainer style / canvas leisure shoes are not allowed)

Non school badges or fashion motifs are not allowed.

SCHOOL TIES AND BADGES

School badges are available for blazer pockets from the School Reception. The school tie for year 11 is silver with stripes and the school badge at the bottom.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLOTHING

BOYS AND GIRLS

Plain black T Shirt or Polo Shirt
Plain black shorts
Black socks
Optional Items: Black Hoody, long sleeved black T Shirt.

ALL PUPILS

Waterproof coats or anoraks may be worn on the way to and from school but NOT worn inside the school.
Denim/leather  coats or jackets are not acceptable.

Jeans of any sort are NOT permitted. Hats must not be worn in school.

NOTES

A strong bag is desirable for carrying books and equipment.
HAIRSTYLES

Hairstyles should be tidy, long hair tied back. Natural colours only, no dyed stripes running through the hair or two tone hair colours, no tram lines or decorative patterns, or hair that covers the face or eyes. Extreme hairstyles are not allowed ie: Mohican styles.

ACRYLIC NAILS AND NAIL VARNISH

Pupils are discouraged from wearing brightly coloured nail varnish to school. For health and safety reasons students doing practical lessons must not wear nail varnish. Acrylic nails have become very popular recently but they pose a health and safety risk in a number of subject areas and are therefore unacceptable for school.

JEWELLERY

Pupils are permitted to wear a pair of small studs (not sleepers) and one dress ring. Parents/carers support is sought in ensuring that no other items are worn. Pupils are expected to remove jewellery when participating in any form of physical activity.  The school cannot accept responsibility for any items of lost jewellery.

PLEASE NOTE:  Facial piercings are NOT permitted.  Only a single plain stud in each ear lobe may be worn.

MOBILE PHONES

Mobile phones are allowed in school and may be used in designated areas at agreed times.  Mobile phones are to be used appropriately.  Mobiles phones are brought into school at the owner’s risk.

The school will only take responsibility for items it takes into its’ care up to the value of £20.00

BICYCLES

We have provision for 30 bikes. Pupils approved to use this facility must get off their bike at the school gates and walk their bike in and out of school.  All bikes are left at the owner’s risk.
